REASONS TO WRITE YOUR HISTORY
I wrote my story because of an extraordinary experience which never left my mind. I also wrote it because I had this deep need to understand what I went through, and in a way, it was cathartic for me. Writing that book changed my whole life. Perhaps for you, you just want to capture your life's memories or your parents' life so your children and your grandchildren will know about you. You want to pass on the joys, the heartaches, life events you went through and your beliefs and philosophies to future generations. Maybe you already are a good story teller and if you were gone, this is a way your loved ones would remember you. Reminiscing about the past has been found to be very helpful. Suppose you already know you want this, but have been procastinating. Whatever your reasons, don't hesitate, for once you're gone, all your life's memories are gone, too.  A personal historian is a person who is interested in perserving yours or a loved one's unique life story. He or she usually belongs to the Association of Personal Historians where she receives professional ongoing training. They help you explore the challenges, joys, talents and life decisions of your life and do that by being a non-judgemental, trusting and sympathetic listener. She also helps you determine the very best and affordable way to publish your book. She will come to be your friend and you will find the whole process deeply rewarding.

WHAT IS A PERSONAL HISTORY?
A personal history is not just a genealogy, although that is a feature of your book. A personal history is a memoir that not only tells the stories, but relates the facts and the TRUTH of your life. By telling your story now, you allow all those that knows you and future generations to discover your personality, your life experiences and your wisdom. All this will be recorded in your words and your pictures to be cherished forever.
